Fáilte !

I am searching for any Irving/Irwin/Irvine and associated families who would have lived in Ulster - most likely County Tyrone in the 17th and 18th centuries. My g-g-grandfather, Charles Hood Irving was born in Newtownstewart, County Tyrone in either 1818 or 1820 and left for the US in 1840. He went first to Philadelphia, then to Columbus OH where he helped build the State Capitol and was married, then to Iowa. They had 11 children and he died in IA in December, 1893.

My Irish ancestors reportedly were Milesians from the Iberian peninsula who came first to Ireland and were part of the High Kings of Ireland, then migrating to Scotland where they were kings for some time - Kenneth, Duncans, Malcolms etc. They were at the primary Irving seat at Bonshaw Castle on the Border and also related to those of Drum Castle and others from Ayrshire. At some point, some of them returned to Ireland, but I am not sure at what point that was.

Also, anything anyone might know of the Pugh family in Oswestry, Mongomeryshire, Wales (now in Shropshire, England) during the same time period or before. My g-g-grandmother Mary Jane Pugh had a 1/2 brother named William who was supposedly very bright and a couple of cousins, Evan Evans and another Sam Pugh in Nebraska. She was born in Oswestry in 1822, came to Columbus, OH in 1840 at age 18 and died in IA in January 1894.

The Pughs were probably in Wales from ancient times and were reportendly descended from the Welsh Chieftan Cadwalader AP Jevaf King of Wales d. 984 AD. Some of their lands were at Llanerchydol (a manor house currently for sale), Carmathen, Manor Avon, Llandilo and Ty Gwyn.

There we are in brief. Thanks in advance for any info you might have !

Chun sláinte,
Carla

My ancestors names where Michael Gooley and Katherine Fitzgerald. They had seven children and two died before they reached adulthood. The names of the five who survived are Martin, Patrick, Alice (my grandmother), Mary and James. They where from Waterford but I have no records proving this and this is my goal- to find documents verifying where they were from and anything else that I can find out. I have no good birth dates so I know my task is going to be difficult. If I can find out what ship they came over to the states or Canada in, I feel this will be most helpful to me.

I'm 100% Irish descendant. My names: Brady, Chinnery, Murphy, Donegan, Larkin, Greeley, Cannon, McTaggart, Kearns, Heafy, Morrissey, Meehan, Curtin & more. Chinnery, an English name in Ireland since the 17th century, is my biggest mystery. Anyone?

Hi all. just joined the site . My maiden name was Byrne and my paternal grandfather was a Lally . I have traced the Lally line to Galway,so am now in the position of looking for Byrnes in Dublin and Lally's in Galway ,-both akin to looking for a needle in a haystack1 Pardon the 'akin' pun by the way !
