I am not sure if this is what you are looking for, but many more wineries are going "organic." I personally, prefer to avoid chemicals and additives whenever possible...or genetic engineering. So, a wine that I like in terms of the "Organic" is Frey http://www.freywine.com/

As far as regular wine....so far...Mondavi has been one of my favorites.

I have to also say that Australia is producing some terrific, dirt cheap wine. One of my favorites has been Little Boomey.

If you happen to live near a "World Market" store you might check them out. They often have unique and new wines. I always experiment with new wines from there. http://www.worldmarket.com

Established over 100 years ago Juanico is one of the oldest and best Uruguayan producers here they have created a wonderful full-bodied intensely aromatic redfrom Tannnat, Uruguay's adopted grape. A densely packed dark-berried red that is fantastic with peppered fillet steak.

"This wine is made after the man who brought Tannat to Uruguay and made it the national grape. While we can all appreciate that there is more to life than cabernet sauvignon or Malbec, Tannat is held in stoic regard in niche broody wines such as AC Madiran and Irougly. Happily, in Uruguay it abandons brooding for an exotic ground coffee and chocolate-tinged weighty and spicy wine that begs for barbecue and heftier complex seafood dishes"

Talking about finding, I found a bottle of the Catena Malbec 2006 so once I open it, which I will to celebrate my brother's visit, I will let you know.

Hola Conrad--
I have 3 thoughts:
1. further explore Malbec, perhaps tasting a more complex wine--Mendel & Cuvelier are two of the better names I've encountered, but they maay be difficult to find
2. Something from Spain--but I am unsure all of us could get the same product
3.. Tannat. Here I would as Mr O"Neill for a suggestion.

I agree with Terrance. It is a very good option and worthwile tasting. Nice & fresh arome, body not too dense which makes it easy to drink and serve together with intense meals. As most Sundays we are having pasta, lasagna on this occasion, and they both go together very well, their taste is enhanced with each other I'd say.

Good, honest wine that i would be happy to serve to anyone. Medium-bodied with black cherry fruit--would be a nice change-up from cabernet sauvignon.

Once I was intimidated by wine. Now, I simply drink it.

As a rule, I eat food with great gusto. Now, if I am able to have wine with food, well, that is “ O Happy Day.”

Nevertheless, I know some are concerned about wine-food pairings, and it with trepidation that I post the following references:
