Descendant of a long line of woodworkers/shipbuilders, I am a master stairbuilder and designer. Some say I have sawdust running through my veins. I have 8 children and 16 grandchildren who are the center of my universe.
I am very big on my Irish heritage and seek to promote it among my children and grandchildren. Always eager to learn more about my ancestors and Ireland. I am especially interested in the mindset and spirituality of my forefathers which I believe to be quite different from today and something that is being lost or forgotten in todays society.
I live with my fiance, Michele; her daughter, Nicole, and grandson, Zeak. With the exception of my daughter and 3 grandchildren in Florida, the rest of my family is spread out nearby in Connecticut.
What's your Irish link?
Grandparent/s
What's your first language?
English
What does your Irishness mean to you?
It is my roots - a connection to those who have gone before me. A link to the past and the future.
I am seeking to learn as much as I can about my ancestors to be able to pass it on to my children and grandchildren.

Thanks for joining the SEVENTYMILLION network, and thanks so much for putting yourself on the map.
We have set this network us a place for people to get involved and exchange ideas about the SEVENTYMILLION Project to find, map and connect the Irish diaspora. If you have any ideas of how to help, do share them with the rest of us.
You can start a discussion, upload your pics, create a group for people with similar interests or just hang out with other people from around the world.
I think I knew at some point that you were in West Hartford but forgot it until I was reminded here on your page.
Depending on gasoline prices (may the fleas of a thousand camels nest in the nose hairs of every petroleum executive on the planet) Frank and I may try to get back to Hartford at the beginning of August for my half-brother's family reunion. I want to poke around Hartford anyway. It's where my g-grandfather Cornelius O'Brien died and I'd like to try to find an obituary or something in the old papers in the local library there.
If we get back that way maybe yours and mine can meet up somewhere for a pint? :)
BTW - it's not too late to get in on the book discussion group on the Clannada list. We're not so far along that we can't back-track, re-cap and move on. I have an extra copy of Lincoln's Death, War & Sacrifice, if you're interested.
