I have read ALL of Florencia Bonelli´s novels, which mix erotism and Argentine History in a very good formula. Lots of Irish characters appear in them. Personally, I don´t like Moore´s poems. They´re too abstract for my taste. J.J.Delaney´s stories…

I haven´t read Frank Delaney´s book. I recommend Peter Tremayne´s books, specially the first. His character of the detective nun is wonderful. I enjoy very much reading Mary Higgins Clark. She´s a master of suspense. Also novels by Maeve Binchy. I c…

I have already heard about Frank Delaney. In fact, I am a friend of John Joseph Delaney, the most famous Argentine-Irish author in my country. I would like to have a book, if I can. Greetings. Liliana Doyle

I hope the SEVENTYMILLION project will help to create a new idea of what Irishness is. And I hope this social network can become a place for people to get involved in the project and also just hang out and meet other Irish people around the world.

What does your Irishness mean to you?
It's something I have long taken for granted. But realising that there are 70 million people out there in the world who feel Irish too, it is something I want to explore.

Eliza Lynch - mother of Paraguay

According to GOD, wikipedia, she was born Eliza Alicia Lynch in Cork, Ireland. At the age of ten she emigrated to Paris to escape the Great Irish Famine. She was a looker. No doubt about it and in 1850 she married Xavier Quatrefages, a French officer who was shortly afterwards posted to Algeria.

She had notions too! At… Continue

Aurthur's day

Well, today is the day. Around the world millions of glasses of Irish stout will be raised to toast the 250th anniversary of the Ireland's most famous export, Guinness.

To celebrate company founder Arthur Guinness's decision to sign a 9,000 year lease on a brewery at St James's Gate in Dublin on this day in 1759, Diageo have organised events in Europe, Asia and Africa.

I like the odd pint myself; in fact, I love a pint of stout.

But, do you know, it does still rile me that Guinness, a UK-base… Continue

Muhammad Ali in Ennis, Co Clare

American boxer Muhammad Ali was back in Ireland visiting the birthplace of his ancestors.

Thousands turned out for him. The scenes were reminiscent of a presidential visit as the great man travelled to Ennis, County Clare to see the hometown of his forebear.

The visit was commemorated by the town council with the unveiling of a plaque at the home of his great-grandfather and by making Ali the first ever honorary "freeman" of the town.

Abe Grady -- the grandfather of Ali's mother Odessa Lee Gr… Continue

Irish immigrants forced to return to the United States

Here's one you don't read everyday, reported in the Irisih 'Evening Herald.'

One Dublin-based couple are upping sticks and leaving the country after their Celtic Tiger dream ended in redundancy.

But at least American expats Jane and George Jerry have somewhere to go -- back home to the US.

The couple, both in their early sixties, have been left with no option but to leave their beloved adopted home in Terenure next month, after Jane's job as executive director of a new museum was cut.

The co… Continue

Tree stump looks like Our Lady

This is a corke from the Irish Times:

NEARLY 2,000 people have signed a petition seeking to prevent the removal of a tree stump on the grounds of a Co Limerick church, which they believe depicts an image of the Blessed Virgin.

Scores of people from across the country gathered to say prayers a… Continue

Hi, sorry to be a 'pest'. 1] Actually a search on comment wall to others to connect with names or counties would possibly be helpful too. Not even sure it is possible as not that computer savvy. 2] couldn't figure out how to delete my shamrock! If i try to add another would that auto delete the first one? and...3] I have been connecting to site, I think, by emails as my typical signons are not working [ I changed password just now, so know that is correct, but ID evidently is not.] Not being able to log in on the map page is prob why i can't delete the shamrock!!
