My father was second generation Irish and he felt a strong connection to being Irish. I was raised with a strong sense of being Irish, even though I know little of my Irish ancestory. My dad did not know his father, who was Irish, but he was raised to be proud of his heritage, and he passed that along to my siblings and myself. Even my mother consisders herself Irish, with absolutely no Irish roots.
What's your Irish link?
Great grandparent/s
What's your first language?
English
What does your Irishness mean to you?
My Irishness is a connection with my father. It was always a strong connection, but it grew stronger after he passed away. My dad never got a chance to go to Ireland, so I feel that I need to go to Ireland more than ever before. I have yet to go, but the plan is in the works.

Hi - Make the trip!! You really should go. Where abouts did your grand-dad come from? And if you go it'd be really cool if you kept a journal and took pics and shared it on the site. Keep a blog going for the duration of the trip on seventymillion.com. Nick
