I'm new to this site and just thought I would drop by. I think a lot of people are influenced by Irish culture without having Irish roots (although I guess if you make it to the White House someone would be able to trace your family tree back to a remote Irish village...).
Pete Seegar said that music only came from two places: Africa and Ireland...so perhaps that explains the connection. (But he was wrong, wasn't he? Latin America...)
