One of the things that has struck me in looking at our project is how important our ancestors are in our view of our Irishness. Afterall, it's that person who has probably bestowed you with that strange affliction called 'Irishness.'
So many of you who have added yourself to our map or have joined this site have fascinating stories to tell about your ancestors. These people left Ireland and went to make a new life for themselves in some other part of the world. Let's celebrate them.
Share a yarn
Why not write a little something about your Irish ancestor. When did they leave Ireland? Why? Where did they land or settle? What did they get up to in their new home? Add a photo or video. What did they pass on to you? It's your ancestor so you decide how to tell their story.
How do participate
If you'd like to share your yarn then simply
add a blog post about your ancestor (please don't post your story in the Forum.) Simply to your profile page and look for the "Add a Blog" link. Or, in the sign in box on the right hands side of this page you'll find the "Quick Add" box where you also have an option to add a blog.
If you need help about how to add a blog you can find more information in the 'Help' section or here: http://www.seventymillion.com/notes/Blogs_Help
If all else fails, add a comment and I'll get back to you.
